Food Lab is hiring a full-time Executive Chef / Lead Chef Instructor to lead our culinary team and teach dynamic, engaging cooking classes in a hands-on learning environment. We’re looking for a strong leader who thrives in a collaborative space, is passionate about food and education, and can balance the creative energy of teaching with the structure of managing kitchen operations. This is a leadership role requiring excellent communication, a deep knowledge of culinary technique, and the ability to train, mentor, and hold staff accountable. You’ll be responsible for executing consistently smooth and fun classes, managing inventory and ordering, and helping ensure the kitchen runs efficiently at all times. Key Responsibilities: Teach public and private cooking classes with clarity, enthusiasm, and professionalism Lead and manage kitchen staff and assistant instructors Order ingredients and manage inventory across multiple class types Maintain kitchen standards for cleanliness, prep, and flow Communicate with the front office and operations team to ensure alignment on scheduling, menu development, and event needs Train new instructors and support a positive, organized, team-driven culture Hold team members accountable to Food Lab’s standards of performance and hospitality Represent Food Lab with confidence, warmth, and a passion for making cooking approachable and fun Schedule: Full-time: Tuesday–Saturday Hours range between 10 AM–6 PM or 2 PM–10 PM depending on the weekly event schedule Requirements: 5+ years of professional culinary experience, with leadership or teaching experience preferred Strong communication skills and comfort speaking in front of groups Highly organized, self-reliant, and able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment Passion for food, hospitality, and education Able to lead by example and inspire a team to grow and succeed If you're a confident chef who thrives in both the kitchen and the classroom—and you love creating great food experiences for people—this is the job for you.
